The Driveway Cleaning Process - How Does It Work?

The driveway cleaning process very much depends on your type of driveway surface, whether it be block-paving, imprinted concrete, indian stone, yorkshire stone or sandstone flagging or paving.

The reason for this is as follows - different surfaces require different forms of treatment. Very flat surfaces can be cleaned using our flat surface rotary cleaner which spins around applying water at a high pressure but to the contained area beneath the rotary pressure washing cleaning machine's circumference. Clearly, this cannot be used when cleaning hard to rear areas or areas with steps, etc, or very narrow areas of your driveway which need cleaning, nor can we clean vertical areas such as garden walls or raised beds around the edges of your driveway with this equipment. For this we use a turbo-booster jet wash machine, which is a commercial driveway cleaning piece of equipment which is largely used by professionals and normally cannot be acquired at standard DIY or hardware stores which sell laymen's driveway cleaning equipment.

Weeding Your Driveway

In the first instance, once we have looked at your area to be cleaned we discuss with you whether there are any weedy areas which need weed killer applying. If weed killer is needed prior to driveway cleaning, this is applied and left for a week or so to ensure that roots of weeds are killed prior to visiting to clean your driveway.

Cleaning Your Driveway

Weeds dead - we are able to then clean the surface of your driveway with our professional equipment and hopefully, even at this stage you will be absolutely delighted with the results.

Sanding Your Driveway

Once cleaned, if your driveway is block-paved then we will advise to either re-sand the surface yourself by lightly brushing in very fine sand (kiln dried sand) with a soft yard brush, or we can carry out the driveway re-sanding service for you.

Sealing Your Driveway

When we visit, if your driveway surface is suitable to be sealed we will give separate prices for cleaning, re-sanding and sealing your driveway. Sealants need to be applied in warm weather and are not suitable for all surfaces so are best discussed when we give you a driveway cleaning quote.
